Your First 5-Minute Wildlife Observation Challenge

    Let’s try something simple.

The next time you’re outside in the backyard, on a sidewalk, trail,  or parking lot, watch one animal for five minutes.

    Just one.

Then come back and tell us:

    • What species it was (or your best guess)
    • What it was doing
    • How it moved
    • Whether it seemed relaxed, alert, feeding, travelling, or interacting with something nearby
    • What questions it left you with

    That last one matters most.

Naturalists aren’t people with all the answers.

They’re people who notice the right questions.

Even something as common as a chickadee hopping along a branch can tell a story. Was it searching bark crevices? Calling to a partner? Watching you back?

Observation turns into understanding faster than you expect.
